Who doesn’t like a good holiday or a short break from the 9-5? Staycations became popular in the UK around 2009 when holidays abroad became more expensive owing to the weak pound. Here are ten good reasons to take a staycation, whatever the pound is like.
Scenery
The UK has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, not to mention some of the most amazing historic buildings. The weather isn’t important when visiting stately homes and castles.
Pets
As a nation of pet lovers, we Brits love to take our pets away with us, and a staycation is an ideal way to do that. Few hotels are pet-friendly, but some holiday lets allow pets.
No cramped flights
Have you ever had one of those long-haul flights that were packed to the gunnels? Long security queues at the airport? None of that when you stay in the UK.
Lots of history
Many big towns (and not-so-big) towns have museums. Old churches are packed with history. Only a little research is needed and tourist websites and other sites like www.parkhomelife.com/park_orchardtwigworth.aspx provide information about nearby places to visit.
Easy holiday homes
Overseas timeshares and holiday homes can be difficult to check on when you live in the UK and overseas legislation can be complicated. As we get older, we just don’t need the hassle. Park homes for sale Gloucestershire based or similar developments are alternative options.
Not so far from the sea
It’s generally accepted that the furthest you will ever be from the sea in the UK is around 70 miles. Depending on the traffic, that’s probably only 2 to 3 hours before you can start paddling.
Help the economy
Staycations increased by approximately 25% in 2017 compared with the previous year, according to The Independent. Tourists bring money into the country, if we stay at home for our holidays, we keep it here.
Home from home
Most of us would be surprised at the places of interest close to our homes. Check out local tourist websites or similar.
We speak the same language
There are no language or cultural issues when you stay in the UK.
Currency
Nor are there any currency exchange charges to worry about. That’s a financial saving straight away.
There are many more reasons to staycation, these are just a start. Happy holidays.
