The main reason phones are getting bigger is because they are being used for a variety of different things. ZTE Grand S
Known as the world’s thinnest touch screen, the ZTE Grand S sports a 5 inch display and is surprisingly thin at 6.9mm. The phablet runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and includes 4G LTE for top downloading speed. With facial recognition and a panoramic camera, this camera offers smartphone photography to a brand new level. The Grand S is set to hit shelves in China’s smartphone market by the first quarter of 2013. Like the Ascend Mate, it is curently unclear if ZTE plans on offering this phone to American customers.
Huawei Ascend Mate
Huawei created the Ascend Mate to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2. Huawei launched the brand new phablet at the 2013 CES, hosted in Las Vegas. Known as the “world’s largest smartphone”, the Ascend Mate features a 6.1 inch screen and a slim design. In terms of software, the Ascend Mate runs on Android’s 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The 4050 mAh battery provides a cell phone batteries of up to two days of ordinary use from a single charge. The Ascend Mate has many cool features. One of its selling points is the “magic touch,” which gives you access to the touch screen while wearing gloves. The Ascend Mate is currently only offered internationally and Huawei has not announced any specific plans to release the Ascend Mate in the United States.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is designed much like the Samsung Galaxy S3. With a screen size of 5.5 inch, it has one of the largest screens in the smartphone market. The Note 2 also features an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, plus a 1.9-megapixel as a front camera. In order to take notes or assist in graphic designing, the phablet comes with an accurate S Pen. The S pen works in essentially the same way that a stylus functions. There are many benefits that the Note 2 offers in terms of business mobility, such as the ability to perform multiple tasks on the same screen without requring any screen transitions.
Phablets have seen tremendous growth in the past few years and it is anticipated that they will continue to grow 70% each year for the next three years. Technology critics have pointed out that the increased use of phones and tablets may even contribute to the elimination of personal computers altogether.
