Falling in love 101: It’s Really not as Easy as it Sounds!

When you’re little, you hear so many stories about falling in love and how easy it is. Not only that but the number of movies where the girl is in trouble and a guy comes in just in time to save her is probably in your collection of old VHS tapes. We all think that someday the right person is just going to come swimming along and set our lives on a perfectly straight line towards their end. Unfortunately, love is not like that. It is incredibly difficult to find, can force you to experience feelings you never knew were possible and more than often just leads you to heartbreak. It’s great that you want to find your prince charming (or dream princess) and have your own happily ever after. However, you need to know how to do this. Here are some tips to help you meet the right person.

Don’t rush things

One of the worst things that someone looking to date can do is rush things. Sometimes you get so wrapped up at the idea of falling in love, and how nice it will be, that you take it to fast and meet someone that you don’t like. Rushing into a relationship may mean that you end up with someone is seriously incompatible with you. Unless you’re rushing out to meet a beautiful escort in South Kensington, then you need to realise that building a strong foundation for a relationship is essential for ensuring its success. So, take your time when getting to know new people. That way you can size them up to see if they would be good relationship material.

Don’t be anyone other than yourself

When you find someone that you like, it can be extremely difficult to not try to pretend to like some of their more niche interests to impress them. However, this can give them the wrong impression of you, especially if you get into a relationship and it’s later revealed that you were lying. Instead, it’s important to, as the cliche goes, be yourself. You want to make sure that you both are compatible together. The last thing you want to give is the wrong impression just to try and get into another person’s good books. The person will either like you or just see you as a friend. Whilst this may suck if you wanted to get into a relationship, try and think of it in the long term. It’s just another step in the journey to finding Mr/Mrs right. Just stick with it and you’ll find someone before you know it.

Open up

If you are starting to get comfortable with your potential partner then you may be ready to take things to the next level. Communication is essential for any relationship to flourish, however, if you have started to place your trust in this new potential lover, you may want to start being more open and vulnerable with your partner. As your relationship progresses then you will start to have deeper conversations about yourselves and who you are as people. You may even start to reveal a few secrets. But make sure to only do that when the time is right. That way you can make sure that you fully trust them before saying anything personal to them. Who knows? They may even let you know some of their secrets in return!

Spend time together

If you don’t want to immediately ask your potential love interest in a date, don’t worry, why not just make it a meet-up instead? You want to learn more about them as a person, so why not take the opportunity to spend the day together. Spending time together can be as simple as going out to a cafe, but if you want to do something that you both will enjoy, why not together about other things that you like doing. If you both like animals, then pick somewhere like a cat cafe or a zoo, or if you both like sports then arrange a trip to a pool or a waterpark for a fun swim. This is a great way of finding out what you have in common and what you both enjoy. That and you will also get the opportunity to spend time with them on their own. This is priceless!

Be Brave

The more time you spend with someone, the more likely that you may start to catch feelings for them if you truly think that you are a great match. That’s why it’s also important to take the next step by actually asking them on a date or asking about whether they have any feelings in return. It can be difficult to find the right time to do this. Make sure it’s in a private place where no one can disturb you. Be prepared for the fact that they might say no. Now, this may sting a little but if you are let down then you will have to move on. You can take your time on it to make you feel better, but don’t just outright cut them out of your life. This can make it seem like you didn’t care about them at all in the first place.

Good luck with your relationship!

Falling in love, and getting into a relationship, can be a scary thing. There’s a high chance that the person won’t return your feelings, but still, if they do return your feelings then, congratulations, you are officially in love! Isn’t that exciting? Just take things slowly and enjoy the time you spend together. This will help you enjoy your relationship to the fullest and allow you to truly get to know each other. Before you know it you will be like old love birds!
