Acne is one of the most common problems for teens and adults regarding their skin. Acne may cause embarrassment because it usually appears on the face and tends to be larger than regular pimples. The redness, itchiness, inflammation and discomfort associated with acne make the skin condition one of the most impacting for people who suffer from it.
The most common causes of acne are a build up of dirt, oil and other impurities in the skin. Bacterial causes may also be considered since the build-up of oil and dirt in the skin pores may attract bacteria which proliferate and cause inflammatory reactions in the skin. Hormones may also play a role in acne formation: that’s why men are more prone to acne formation because of their high testosterone levels.
There are various approaches for the management of acne and some of these are natural and do not require expensive dermatological treatments. Here are some tips for managing acne naturally:
Apply honey mask
Honey is an effective natural remedy for acne. Honey has antibacterial properties that help reduce the bacteria in the skin that cause acne. In addition, it also helps reduce acne marks. Aside from anti-acne benefits, honey also maintains the natural glow of the skin and makes the skin well-hydrated. Apply honey evenly on the face and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing off. You can use a honey mask on your face one to two times a week for more significant results.
Wash face with acne soap
Acne soaps are also good remedies for acne. Acne soaps usually contain sulfur that kills transient bacteria in the skin. Other soaps may be used, but be sure that they are gentle on the skin to prevent further skin irritation. Never wash your face too often because this will just stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. You should only wash your face at most 2 times a day. After washing, simply pat the skin dry and avoid rubbing with a cloth in order to prevent skin irritation which can aggravate acne.
The development of acne may also signal the presence of a nutrient deficiency. Multivitamins contain vitamins A, C and E, which are good for the skin and indeed they make the skin look younger and healthier.
Eat carrots or use carrots as a facial scrub
Carrots are not that well known as a facial scrub, but they are actually more effective in preventing acne than many other more popular cleansing scrubs. Carrots may be used as a natural facial scrub by grinding or osteorizing them and using them as a cleansing scrub for the face. Carrots are very high in vitamin A, which helps keep the skin healthy. You can also eat carrots in your diet regularly because vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant that may reduce toxins that can cause acne. Carrot is also a cancer fighting food.
Consume foods rich in zinc
Zinc has antibacterial properties and also regulates the sebaceous glands in producing oil. People who do not consume zinc regularly usually suffer from acne breakouts. Zinc may be found in shellfish, lobsters, crabs, beef, pork, nuts, milk, cheese and other foods.
Use grapes to clean the face
Grapes are also a good natural remedy for acne. Grapes contain high amounts of vitamin C, which is very good for the skin. You can use grapes for cleansing the face simply by cutting the fruit in half and rubbing the flesh of the fruit on your face.
Apply cucumber to the skin
Cucumber may also help remove acne. Cucumber has a cooling effect which reduces inflammation caused by the acne. Use cucumber by first mashing it onto a paste, and then apply it to your face. Leave the pack for 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
Use oatmeal cleanser
Oatmeal is another effective remedy to clean the face and prevent or manage acne. Mix 2 tablespoons of oatmeal with warm water to make a paste. Apply the oatmeal paste on your face and leave for 5 minutes. Afterwards, rub the skin gently with the oatmeal paste to remove the dead skin cells on the surface, and then rinse off. Oatmeal has soothing effects that help reduce the inflammation of acne.
There are a lot of natural remedies for acne, but these are considered to be the most effective ways to prevent, reduce and alleviate inflammation caused by acne.
